On August 1, 2023, it will be twenty years since the premiere of My Life as a Teenage Robot and over seventeen years since I wrapped up work on the series. For the first time since then, I will be returning to the world of Teenage Robot to tell a new story with Jenny, her friends, and her foes.

And you lucky newsletter subscribers will be the first to read it! 

It’s meant as a thank you for subscribing (and as a not so-subtle inducement for others to follow your example.) It means so much to me that Teenage Robot is still remembered.

I’m more than a little nervous about how this new story will be received. But knowing that there is no way I could possibly satisfy the different desires of the very diverse fan base has actually been liberating. Nevertheless, I thought I’d try to briefly let you all know what to expect.

What it will be:

A serialized story told a chapter at a time, with a new chapter appearing once a week or maybe once every couple weeks, depending on how quickly I can figure things out. 

What it won’t be:

A cartoon.  It won’t be a televised show. It will be a written story. Obviously different, but I hope similar enough that fans will enjoy reading this new adventure.

Twenty years later.  In Tremorton, that is. A short amount of time has passed in the world of MLaaTR but not much. I’m not going to flash forward and tell a story with Brad, Tuck, and Sheldon as thirtysomething adults.  

An epic saga that includes every character, wraps up everything, and ends the story. I might do that someday but not now. I just brought the characters out of hibernation. I’m not looking to say goodbye again so soon. This is just one story. If there’s enough interest and enthusiasm, I hope to do more. 

I’ll probably have more to say about it before the actual story starts on August 1^st. I hope you will enjoy seeing Jenny back in action. Thanks again for being here.
